To empty the continent reservoir of either urine or feces a large bore 26 or 28 French-sized catheter is inserted into the surgically-constructed internal pouch. The end of the catheter is directed into the toilet or receptacle to drain the effluent. Catheters come in various lengths, softness and rigidity to meet client preference and intubation technique. Clean management principles are used to maintain the catheter. |
