There are three classifications of ostomies: colostomy, ileostomy, and urostomy. Colostomies can be made anywhere along the colon. An ileostomy is usually made at the distal end of a small bowel. An urostomy is located in the lower right quadrant of the abdomen and is constructed using parts of the urinary and fecal systems. |
